The Tamil Nadu Premier League is underway, and last year’s leading wicket-taker, Abhishek Tanwar, scripted an unwanted record in T20 cricket as the right-arm seamer gave away 18 runs off a single ball, becoming a contender for most runs conceded on a single ball in T20 history.

In the recently concluded game between Salem Spartans and Chepauk Super Gillies on Tuesday, Abhishek, the skipper of the Spartans, gave away 18 runs off the last ball of the innings.

Notably, the seamer took a wicket on the last ball, but it was a no-ball, and the batters stole a run. On the following ball, Abhishek again over-stepped and got smashed for a six. On his 3rd attempt to complete the over, Tanwar again bowled a no-ball and gave away a single, only to be followed by a wide delivery.

CSG went from 199/5 in 19.5 overs to 217/5 after 20 overs. In the end, Chepauk registered an emphatic 52 runs win to go second on the table.
